If you want to know how much time and energy Rockstar Games put into Red Dead Redemption 2 money guide Dead Redemption 2 , you need look no further than opossums. Most animals will flee from you if they see your character approaching, but not the opos

about.phpThe journal is a stellar hand-written chronicle of the game’s story and your influence woven together from the perspective of the game’s two leads. It is richly-detailed in an engrossing way that made me play around it. Instead of opening it when I had a chance, I made time for it.

In-game journals or logs in other games often have the appearance of life, thanks to talented teams, but none feel like living, breathing books like Arthur’s does. Drake’s notes in the Uncharted series are filled with doodles and charm that is signature to Drake’s personality, but its in-game purpose is usually to solve simple puzzles more than to flesh out the characters. During my brief time with Mass Effect , the Codex was easily my favorite bit since it filled out the history of the galaxy, but it lacked a personal anchor point.

So when Arthur and his friends got thrown out of their boat on tempest-tossed waves and they all landed on Guarma together, I had to deal with a heavy dose of skepticism. There is no way that they should have been able to land together near the same spot, let alone survived their time spent nearly drown

While at present Red Dead Redemption 2 is all the hype—not surprising, considering it was a cumulative effort by Rockstar Games over eight long years—let's not forget about its predecessor, 2010's Red Dead Redempti

There is indeed a blood-sucking vampire prowling the streets of Saint Denis. (Anyone else struggling with pronouncing "Saint Denis?") If you track down some vampire etchings on the building walls of the city, you will eventually find this vamp

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a graphical and visual achievement for sure, but every "exceptional" story element is merely surface level. By the end of it all, the game feels like a package designed for the mainstream media for some futile campaign proving that games are movies now; a movement that personally seems like it comes more from self-insecurity than from true reverence for the medium. By attempting to signal a movement forward for video games, I feel that in certain ways, this game has moved the form backward.

That doesn't mean it's near flawless, though. As with even the greatest Rockstar Games' product (and this is likely the best), there are weird tonal shifts, obnoxious side characters, and contradictions galore with the main protagonist. This leads to plenty of holes and dangling threads left in their overall result— Redemption 1 is just as guilty of this as their past ga

In the Mexico section, Marston is placed in the middle of a Civil War between the ruthless Government and the hapless rebels—both sides of the conflict offer Marston's help on his quest in return for his gun-for-h

But that wouldn't go with Dutch Van der Linde's positions against industrialization, modernization, and technology. Dutch, who I couldn't help but see and hear as a more handsome Matt Foley from SNL , finds a rival in Leviticus Cornwall, a captain of industry and one of the many banes of Dutch's existence. He may as well have ended every encounter him by shaking his fist at the sky and screaming "Cornwall!" in anguish. Using Cornwall as a target, Dutch fashions himself as a man of the people, wanting to go back to a time before "law and order" and attempting to score cred by helping some local angry indigenous folks. As Arthur Morgan discovers later, this is all part of Dutch's plan to exploit this tribe's conflict with the U.S. Army for his own gain.

These epilogues and the rest of your time in the game end up being a taste of the life fans of the series have wished for from John's story. It’s a small taste of peace and happiness before the cycle begins anew from what we saw in the original Red Dead Redemption . Arthur’s journal being passed to John helps facilitate this all-too-brief period of happiness in his life.

[pullquote]"Thematically, both Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Assassination of Jesse James focus on a commune of criminals and gang members, led by a charismatic leader who the rest of the gang eventually become disillusioned with." [/pullquote]

Irish is a dishonorable homeless man and Seth an unhinged and creepy gravedigger. All of the characters are vastly different ‘loners’ with nothing in common—yet they're all meant to be friends? There’s never any real attempt to justify or show off the trio’s kinship and the story quickly moves on from this i

A character that players will run into throughout the game is a blind old man that begs for money on the side of the road. If you actually comply and give him the money he will act as a fortune teller and tell you a tidbit about your character. The prophet part comes in when he accurately predicts things that will happen to Arthur Morgan, like predicting the betrayal of Micah and ultimately Arthur's passing. Even later in the game when playing as John Marston the blind prophet accurately tells John things that happened to him in the first Red Dead Redempti
